Saved?

What does it mean to be "Saved" in Christianity. What is the process of being "Saved" and can anybody achieve this?

What does Saved mean?
If you have lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, been a false witness, been angry with someone, or blasphemed you have sinned. In short if you have ever broken even just one of the 10 commandments or engaged in one of the 7 deadly sins, you are a sinner. Nothing you can do personally will undo the damage caused by your sins unless you make the commitment to be saved or born again

To be saved requires (I think)  three things. Belief, an open heart and confession and repentance of your sins. There are many other things such as accepting Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, that's a given, but those 3 are the key elements in the mix required from your end.

All who are believers are sealed with the blood of Jesus Christ, receive the Holy Spirit and are seen as righteous in the eyes of the Lord…’saved’ to be with God in heaven. You become a Servant of God and a born again Christian. Your old self and ways will fall away and you start a new life with guidance from the Holy Spirit. Some of the changes are immediate, others will take more time.

What is the process of being saved?

This is the 6 step process according to the Christian resource website Christian Broadcast Network.

1. CONFESS that you are a sinner in need of a Savior
2. REPENT from that sin
3. Acknowledge and believe that Jesus is the One Savior who can take away your sin (because of His deity, and His death and resurrection)
4. BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah
5. RECEIVE the Holy Spirit to guide you in daily life
6. Have your name written in the Lamb’s book of life, where upon death you will not be destined to a life separated from God – instead, you will be ‘saved’ from eternity in hell, and receive access to heaven and eternal fellowship with God.

Can anybody achieve this?
After reading those 6 steps do you really think that sort of status is going to be an easy process?

On my journey before I was saved I came across a number of false preachers in video form and came to the conclusion that there is a lot of deceptions out there. After the experience I had personally of being saved I really don't think it's a matter of saying a few words or even if somebody that is ordained or a member of the religious order real or not putting their hand on yours or on your head and saying some rite and then saying afterwards "you are now saved".

I just don't think it is received via a third party. I don't think it is received by baptism either, that is an earthly not a spiritual confirmation that you have been saved. Doing good deeds or what is called "works" before the event, donating to charity, going back and trying to undo the wrongs in your life will not get you there either. Certainly buying a "I'm saved" T Shirt is not going to get you saved, not the slightest. If your parents are saved or born again this cannot be inherited, it's not genetic. It's an individual case by case scenario. You will not get it by blind faith either just because your friend believes in Jesus Christ, YOU have to truly 100% believe. Lastly you cannot buy it ANYWHERE!

I really think it is a direct connection between yourself and your maker and it is not a voluntary action or a snap decision on your part, but one that is involuntary and comes at a time when you least expect but HE knows you are ready and the time is right. You will have arrived at that point in your life by some sort of spiritual journey, could be weeks, months, years or decades, you may not even be aware of it, but HE is. If being saved means having absolute faith in basically something you cannot physically see and you are willing to put your life on the line for that faith, you realise it just has to be that way.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

That's just my opinion as a new born again, a baby not on solids yet in spiritual terms, and I could be wrong and it varies from case to case and it really does depend on what an individual has been going through in their lives. Sometimes a short prayer or sometimes just a few words is all that is needed, but I bet there was some monumental process that led to those words being said, but it's a personal thing, I do think as happened to me, nobody else should be there because of the personal nature of the process.

Are YOU saved?
There are many people who think they are saved or born again. If you don't feel that much of a difference, if you are still living your life as before with just very minor changes, if you are even asking the question "Am I actually saved" then the chances are you are probably not.

If you are still living your life like "The World", lusting after the latest Iphone Xs, haven't touched or looked at a bible, haven't got round to saying your first personal prayer, have not set foot inside a church yet (not compulsory), even just an empty one, to have a quiet contemplative moment in a Holy place, even just out of curiosity. The chances are you are not even remotely saved.

If you you are not interested in the things God likes, are not interested in spreading "the word" and "the gospel" and you do not have the fantastic feeling that something amazing has happened in your life or that your eyes have been strangely opened, that you want to share with the world and you want others to have this exact same thing in their life. If you don't have this overpowering urge then you definetly have not been in my opinion saved but more than likely deceived into thinking you have been saved.

The ultimate test I would say is this. Is your belief real, are you Saved or is Christianity only for Sundays? Do you live your life by the word or again just on Sundays or even worse you couldn't care less about the bible?

Finally if you are a true Born Again Christian........you will walk as Jesus walked and live as Jesus lived!
